If the Core is the heart of Railcraft, then the Rail module is the soul. The Rail module defines most of the new rails provided by Railcraft, except for the Launch Rail, Priming Rail, Elevator Rail and Switch Rails which are found in other modules. At the very least, most players will want to install this module.
Standard Rails are one of the two components needed for the basic version of Railcraft rails, and function in more or less a similar fashion to default Minecraft rails. To assemble To manufacture rails, one must have a Rolling Machine operating to form the actual rail parts, and then combine them with Wooden Railbeds to form standard Tracks.
Advanced Rails are upgraded steel rails designed to be used as components for special-function tracks such as Boarding Tracks and Control Tracks. Advanced Rails are made in the Rolling Machine by combining Standard Rails (above) with three heaps of Redstone and three Gold Ingots.
High-Speed (H.S.) Rails are specially-coated and re-enforced metal rails for building High-Speed Tracks. Unlike Advanced Rails, H.S. Rails are not made from pre-fabricated Standard Rails, and can only be made using Steel; Iron lacks the necessary strength.
