Bronze
Bronze is a metal obtained by combining Copper and Tin.
Using the IC recipe, bronze is created by smelting bronze dust, which is created by crafting 3 copper dust and 1 tin dust. This creates two bronze dust, and, thus, two bronze ingots.
Using the Forestry recipe, bronze is created by crafting 3 copper ingots and 1 tin ingot. This yields 4 bronze ingots.
Thanks to the Technic pack, these two varieties of bronze are interchangeable; that is, you can use bronze from Forestry to craft a bronze wrench from IC.
Bronze has a wide variety of uses: Bronze Armor, Bronze Wrenches, Bronze Tools and cheap Rails. It is also one of the ingredients of Mixed Metal Ingots. Additionally, sturdy machines are made from bronze, which are a basic component in many Forestry machines.
It has an EMC value of 256, which is equilivant to an iron ignot or a tin ignot. You can take advantage of this and use 1 tin/iron ignot to make 1 bronze ignot, which is much cheaper than any of the above reciepes. You have to obtain your first bronze ignot the hard way though.
