Lua is the Base Programming language used for ComputerCraft with no current alternatives. It is a higher-level programming language, often used for writing scripts in video games, like Garry's mod, and World of Warcraft. It's also used to write entire games, like in love2d framework, or springrts game engine. For a full tutorial on lua, visit http://lua-users.org/wiki/TutorialDirectory. Going through "introductory topics" and "programming in Lua" is usually enough to start writing Lua, and thus should be adequate for using computercraft
