The ME Interface acts as a go-between when working with pipes, tubes, or machines from other mods. You can configure certain items to be exported from the ME Network into the interface for use with other mods, or use other mods to insert into any ME Interface. As long as it isn't full of exported materials it will add any added items into the ME Network.
The ME Interface also is used when using ME Crafting. When an ME Encoded Blank Pattern is placed into the "Processing" slot, it can be used as a crafting recipe for the ME Network for items that require external processing, much like the ME Molecular Assembler Chamber is used for crafting normal recipes. For example, if a ME Encoded Blank Pattern is made with an input of sand, and an output of glass, and then placed into an ME Interface that is placed on top of a furnace, whenever the ME Network requests glass while none is currently available, it will send sand into the furnace via the ME Interface. Once the sand is smelted into the glass, it can be put into the ME Network with an ME Import Bus.
