Coffee
Coffee can refer to the Coffee plant or the Coffee drink, both part of Industrial Craft.
File:CoffeePlant.png | The Coffee plant is only obtainable by Cross Breeding. When harvested it can drop Coffee Beans and/or a Coffee Seed Bag. |
File:Grid Cold Coffee.png | Drinking Coffee will grant some buffs similar to how vanilla potions work, making it is a multi-stage process starting with Coffee Beans from the Agriculture system. |
Buff
Drinking coffee will give you the haste and speed buffs for 15 seconds. The Speed buff increase around 20% of your Walk Speed and the Haste buff increase around 33% of your Mining Speed. Coffee, Dark Coffee and Cold Coffee all give the same buffs.
Drinking a second coffee before the buff wears out will increase the haste and speed buffs to Haste II and Speed II, and increase the duration by one minute.
A third will have a similar effect, adding one level and one minute to each buff, as will a fourth.
Further coffees will increase the duration, but the names of the buffs will be reverted to Speed and Haste. They are still both faster than Speed IV and Haste IV, but this may be the cap at which they will not provide further walking/mining speed beyond this with more coffee (more spading required).
A sixth coffee while the buffs are in effect will again increase durations by one minute, but begin to add nausea for 10 seconds. Nausea is a debuff that will make your screen wave and wobble as if you were standing in a portal (without the overlay).
The seventh will add one more minute, give nausea for 20 seconds, and you will incur 6 hearts of damage. This seems to be the cap for further damaging effects and nausea (Again, more spading required).
Note, the above values are for the final tier of coffee (Cream and sugar added). The table below will include the other two variants.
Cups | Cold coffee | Dark Coffee | Coffee |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Speed and Haste :15 | Speed and Haste :15 | Speed and Haste :15 |

Speed and Haste 2 Speed and Haste +0:30 |

Speed and Haste +0:30 |
Speed and Haste 5 Speed and Haste +1:00 Nausea 0:30 Damage 10+ hearts |
Speed and Haste 5 Speed and Haste +1:00 Nausea 0:10 |
7+ | Speed and Haste +0:30 |
Speed and Haste 5 Speed and Haste +1:00 Nausea 0:30 Damage 10+ hearts |
Speed and Haste 5 Speed and Haste +1:00 Nausea 0:20 Damage 6 hearts |
The above values were obtained by chugging the same kind of coffee the whole time, so you may get different results by drinking three dark coffees and then four Cold coffees. Damage is reduced by armor, so you can potentially drink infinite coffees while wearing a quantum suit.
Also, eating Terra Wart removes the nausea de-buff.
Recipes
First, Coffee Beans are processed into powder.
It is then placed within a Stone Mug and mixed with water:
|
|
This will create Cold Coffee which a player can drink.
It is then warmed up in a Furnace:
Since milk has not yet been added, this stage will create dark coffee which a player can drink.
And finally milk and sugar are added:
This will create standard coffee which a player can drink.
Bugs
If FOV (field of view) is changed while coffee effects are in place, some glitches may happen, such as:
- Screen flipping
- Screen stretching and distorting
